About HistorySprout

HistorySprout is a free history gaming website. Our goal is simple: make it easy and enjoyable to learn about the past. Instead of long lists of dates, you play: answer questions in History Battle, solve clues in History Detective, or test your sense of chronology in Timeline Rush.

How we write questions

Every question has one correct answer, three plausible wrong answers, a short explanation and a link to a reference source. We prefer well-established facts and note when dates are approximate. If you spot a mistake, please tell us using the contact page and we will correct it.

Our articles

Our history articles are written by the HistorySprout editorial team as short, structured explainers with sources at the end. They are meant as an introduction, and we link to reference material for deeper reading.
