About Timeline Rush

Timeline Rush is an endless streak game about chronology. It draws from a library of important events, from the building of the Great Pyramid to the fall of the Berlin Wall, and asks a simple question: which happened first?

Because the exact years are revealed after every pick, you gradually build a mental timeline of world history. It is a quick way to learn how events connect.

Tips for a higher score

  • Anchor yourself with a few dates you know: 476 (Rome falls), 1066 (Hastings), 1492 (Columbus), 1789, 1914, 1945.
  • BCE years count backwards: a bigger BCE number is earlier.
  • When two events look close, think about the century first, then the decade.
  • Use the year reveal after each pick to learn, even when you win.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Timeline Rush?

You are shown two historical events. Choose the one that happened earlier. After each pick the exact years are revealed. You have 3 lives and the game ends when they are gone.

Does the game get harder?

Yes. Early rounds compare events centuries apart. As your streak grows the events get closer together, down to only a few years apart.

How is the score calculated?

Each correct pick gives 100 points plus a streak bonus that grows up to 250 extra points for long streaks.

Are BCE dates included?

Yes. Events from ancient history use BCE years, so 490 BCE happened before 480 BCE.
